About RSK

The RSK Higher Secondary School, located in the premises of BHEL Township, 14 Kms to the east of Tiruchirapalli, in Tamil Nadu, India is one of the famous schools in Trichy. The school was founded in 1964 - the year BHEL was incorporated - as a means for providing quality education for the children of the company's employees; subsequently, the school opened to students not connected to the BHEL as well. Earlier, known as Boiler Plant Higher Secondary School, the school was re-named as R.S. Krishnan Higher Secondary School in fond remembrance of the first Executive Director of BHEL Late Mr. R.S. Krishnan in 1968 after his death. The School management passed on from the Montfort Brothers to the Singapore-based Global Indian Education Foundation, which ran the school for 5 years from 2006 till 2010, when the Management changed to KKR's Gowtham Educational Institutions.

The School is spread across the BHEL Township as 5 separate mini-campuses.

  • The A Sector Primary School houses classes Kinder Garden (KG) I to Standard I, Sections A, B, C
  • The E Sector Primary School houses classes II to V, Sections A, B, C
  • The B Sector Primary School houses classes KG I to Standard V, Sections D, E, F
  • The Junior School in B Sector, housing classes VI through VIII, Sections A through F and
  • The Main School, also in B Sector, housing Classes IX to XII

A number of achievers have graduated from RSK, and today are leading and eminent Engineers, Medical practitioners, entrepreneurs, socialites, industrialists, sports persons and scientists.

Owing to the best-in-class education provided by the School, a seat in the School continues to be a matter of pride for people around the region and there have been children travelling from places as far as Tanjore (45 km) daily to study at RSK.

The School follows the Central Board Of Secondary Education, Delhi, syllabus. The CBSE syllabus was exclusive in all of RSK's classes until 2000, after which due to public demand and the trends in the Professional Courses admissions in Tamil Nadu, the Management introduced (Tamil Nadu) State Board as an additional alternate syllabus for Classes XI and XII.

The School has a strong Alumni network and a very active association called the Old Students' Association. Among its many activities happen to be the organizing of the Cultural festival OSCAR (Old Students' Celebration At RSK).

The School also has a very active Parent-Teacher Association.

The School excels in several sporting and cultural activities.
